LAS VEGAS
The ride-sharing company Uber could be operating in the state of Nevada by next month, according to a spokesperson with the State of Nevada Department of Business & Industry.
Commissioners with the National Transportation Authority voted 2-1 on Thursday to ask the governor if it could draft emergency regulations that will allow Uber to start working in the state by July 1.
Last month, Gov. Brian Sandoval, R-NV, signed two bills into law to regulate ride-hailing companies like Uber and Lyft in Nevada.
Under the bills, drivers will be required to have a commercial insurance policy with $1.5 million in liability coverage.
